Permissions and safety

What your role allows, how changes are confirmed, and how to see what an assistant did.

The assistant acts as you

An AI assistant connected to Hank has exactly your permissions, in each organization you belong to. It can't do anything you couldn't do in the dashboard.

RoleCan readCan change
Admin and OwnerEverything coveredEverything covered
OperatorEverything coveredIn multi-location companies, routing, on-call and ZIP codes for the locations they have access to
ViewerEverything coveredNothing

Office hours and lead policy can be changed only by Admins and Owners.

Changes are live

Every change applies to your next call, just like saving in the dashboard. Ask the assistant to read back the result; on-call changes come back with the next two weeks of coverage.

Previews before removals

Removing a contact, employee, route, department, TPA, on-call schedule or coverage shows a preview first. Nothing changes until you confirm. Lead policy changes that can end calls, such as turning the policy on, also preview first.

Hank also refuses changes that would leave a gap, such as removing a contact a route still calls, and says what to change first.

Read-only connections

When you connect, your assistant can ask only to read. A read-only connection can't change anything, whatever your role.

A record of every action

Hank records each action an assistant takes: which tool, by whom, through which connection, and whether it succeeded. It records what was changed, never the values, so phone numbers and names don't end up in the log.

Disconnecting

Open Settings → Team → Connected apps to see every assistant connected to your account, when it was approved and when it was last used. Disconnect stops it immediately.
